the end of concrete?

I remember how we used to dream of ripping out our huge ugly driveway so we could turn it back into a green space-like the rest of the front yard, which was a focal point of code enforcement's efforts (they never really did quite understand our desire to grow tomatoes and collards instead of grass). The last couple of houses I've lived in didn't have driveways and it really gives your house quite a different feel not to have that space dominated by all that concrete. Imagine my joy to discover that other people feel the same way: The Depave Project. "The goal of Depave is to promote the removal of unnecessary concrete and asphalt from our urban areas. The removal of impervious pavements will reduce stormwater runoff pollution of our rivers, and increase the amount of land available for habitat restoration, urban farming, trees, native vegetation, and beauty in urban areas."
